Who is involved with the Visiting Pet Program?
The volunteer group is organized by Candice Cunningham, owner of Positive Paws, Inc. and six other team leaders, Monica Allt, Melissa Leo, PJ Leo, Denise Brown, Judy Lyons and Jenn Sullivan. The Team Leaders are working together to implement a program that provides training for volunteers and their pets, nationally recognized therapy certification testing, and monthly meetings for all the volunteer Pet Partners. The group provides support for all of the visiting pet partners and allows flexibility for facility visits, relieving some of the pressure associated with such a commitment. The group currently consists of approximately 20 people and their pets, which are mostly dogs, but also a donkey and some bunnies. The program welcomes all types of pets and offers workshops and training sessions to help prepare people and their pets for certification testing and visits.
